Day 4 - November 20, 2005
Still playing that whole jetlag game. I think I'm winning, but still get up early. That just meant I got to read some. I am almost done with the traveler's tales book of Nepal. The big plan for today was a brunch with Brenda and David, two Canadians looking to adopt a girl from over here as well. So Carmen went to pick them up and Carolyn was cooking omelettes and cleaning dishes so that meant uncle Eliot was on Jenee duty. We actually had a good time playing in and around the couch with a 1000 rupee note and a hair tie. You'd be surprised the fun that can be had with simple items. I did, however, drawn the line at helping the 18 month old turn the television on, a major point of contention between the two of us.
Then Carmen got back with the visitors. Brenda and David from Vancouver. I'm not exactly sure what she does, but seems really cool. David is a camera op and freelance photographer. They have been over here a couple months and have, by the sounds of it, had some pretty neat adventures with the baby in tow. David is going to take me through Thamel with an eye towards trekking gear shops and talk to me about trekking, where to go and how to get there. The brunch was nice, sort of a little society but with some really cool people. They said they could get us in touch with the expat community over here, and it sounds like the kind of people I was hoping to get in touch with.
Shortly after our brunch guests left Hope House got a phone call from the Radisson saying my bag had been found. I guess it was found in OHD. Not entirely sure where that is but I will find out. I think my bag has been to a country I have not, though. So Carolyn, Usha and I went to the hotel to pick it up. Well, we picked it up and decided the remainder of our time would be best spent up one the fifth floor at the splash bar. A cold beer looking out over Kathmandu is definitely a pleasure, especially while the sun is going down, that deserves to be written about by a better man than I.
Update on OHD: Evidently, OHD is the airport code for Ohrid, Yugoslavia. It looks like that is in the now Macedonia. So yes, my backpack has been in a country I have not been to. Awesome.
